Joint Commission Requirement on Fuel Testing: EC.02.05.07-8:
According to JCAHO hospital service managers must test fuel at least annually, for quality to ASTM standards. The test results and completion dates must be documented and retained. Fuel Testing must be performed annually and remediated as necessary.
If deficiencies are found through fuel testing, fuel is either removed or polished. Fuel polishing consists of using a series of filters, coalescers, and centrifuges to remove unwanted particulate from the fuel. To learn more about the fuel polishing process: click here
